About this Webinar

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) highlights that pupils with additional needs may face increased vulnerability and communication barriers, bringing additional challenges in recognising or reporting abuse. It also emphasises the need for a child-centred approach.

Join Vicky Eustace and Kirsty Heys from Lighthouse Training as they share insights from their in-school practice and wider work as an Autism Outreach Service. This webinar will explore how safeguarding approaches must adapt to recognise autistic identity, respect neurodivergent communication and ensure every pupil’s voice is heard and acted upon.

This webinar will support you to:

  • Understand how to align processes with KCSIE guidance on communication barriers and safeguarding needs for autistic learners.
  • Create student-centred environments that validate autistic voice and nurture authentic self-expression.
  • Strengthen self-advocacy skills, enabling autistic learners to communicate their needs, boundaries, and experiences with confidence.

Whether you work in a mainstream, specialist, pastoral or safeguarding role, this session is ideal for education professionals supporting autistic learners and seeking to build more responsive, empowering and protective school environments.
