Domestic abuse is one of the most common adversities affecting children in UK schools, yet its impact is often misunderstood or overlooked in day-to-day safeguarding practice. In this free webinar with Dr Asha Patel, Clinical Psychologist and CEO of Innovating Minds, we will explore the hidden impact of domestic abuse on children and young people, and how schools can support regulation and healing.
Drawing on her clinical experience across CAMHS, forensic mental health and education settings, Dr Patel will unpack how domestic abuse affects a child's development. Participants will leave understanding why these children are victims in their own right, not simply witnesses, and how to respond with safety, connection and healing.

Dr. Asha Patel is a clinical psychologist and the founder and CEO of Innovating Minds, a multi-award-winning social enterprise dedicated to early intervention in mental health. Drawing on her clinical experience in forensic mental health, Dr. Patel launched Innovating Minds in 2016 to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and accessible community support.
Her organisation empowers schools and communities by delivering trauma-informed psychological services that promote emotional well-being. A passionate advocate for mental health equity, Dr. Patel leads a team committed to transforming lives through education, training, and sustainable mental health solutions.
