The number of children in and being referred to Alternative Provisions (APs) and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) continues to grow. Children in these settings typically have mild to moderate Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and many are at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion.
As dual registered pupils, they may attend an AP or PRU for part of the week or attend for several weeks or months before reintegrating back into the referring school or other setting. This can make it difficult for safeguarding leads to build a full picture of the circumstances surrounding individual pupils.
Watch the on-demand webinar to hear from Ali Elvidge, Head of Reach Primary Learning Centre in Leeds, and learn how staff work closely with each child and their family, along with the referring school, outside agencies and other professionals, to develop strategies to support them.
Ali Elvidge is a highly experienced headteacher at Reach Primary Learning Centre in Leeds, specialising in teaching children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
